BAREILLY: Three youths died and three others were injured after their car collided with a mini truck on Lucknow–Shahjahanpur highway under Faridpur police station. According to police, all six youths in the car were zari artisans, who were going to collect work orders from Shahjahanpur. An FIR has been lodged against the truck driver, who is absconding.
Police have sent the bodies for post mortem.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Jayde, 25, Mohammad Mobeen, 28, and Mohammad Kafil, 24. Shanu Salmani, 26, Mohammad Fareed, 27 and Akbar Ahmed, 29 were injured in the
accident, which took place on Friday night. All were residents of Haziyapur under Baradari police station area.
Faridpur police station house officer (SHO) Satish Kumar said, “A passerby informed us about the incident around 9:30 pm. We rushed to the spot and saw the truck driver fleeing the spot. We sent all six persons to a nearby private hospital, where three of them later succumbed to injuries.”
“Following a complaint filed by Jayde’s uncle Afsar Hussain, an FIR has been lodged against the truck driver sections 279 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 304A (Causing death by negligence) of IPC, who is yet to be identified,” the SHO said.
“Hussain said that all the victims were friends and neighbours, who worked as zari artisans at his place. Jayde, along with his five friends, were going to collect zari work orders from Shahjahanpur in Jayde’s elder brother’s car, when they met with the accident,” the SHO added.
